Divine Liturgy and Kneeling Prayers

His Grace, the Rt Rev Tikhon, ordained Subdeacon Adam Sexton to the Diaconate and Blssed the new Pochaev Icon Stand. A dinner followed in the church hall afterwards.

The Annual "Yolka" was held following Divine Liturgy with the Church School children participating. A luncheon followed the show.

The " Open House " hosted annually by Father John, Matushka Cathy and children, Nicholas and Sophia followed the Divine Liturgy on Christmas Day. Protodeacon Gabe Petorak led the singing of Carols .

Our parish honored 4 members who have graduated from various High Schools in the area. Each  each one was presented with a gift from the parish Scholarship Committee. Standing from left are Jullianne Soroka, Abington Heights, Rachael Baldan and Mary Elizabeth  Slachta, Lakeland High School. Kristen Twardzik, Lakeland was absent and was presented her gift this morning by ger granfather, Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak.

The Kursk Icon of the Mother of God made a bisit to our church. The Icon is visiting Orthodox Churches throughout the East and made its way to Jermyn,PA. The Archpriest Serge Lukianov is in charge of the Icon and gave a historical presentation following the Moleben which was served by His Grace,Bishop Tikhon and the Archpriests John Kowalczyk,rector, Stephen Kopestonsky,Daniel Geeza and Father Serge.

Protodeacin Gabriel Petorak nade is Bi-Annual Trip to Dubryich, Ukraine in early July. The Church is St Mary's Orthodox Church and is a sister Church of St Michael's in Jermyn. Our parishioners have benn very generous to the Church in Ukraine over the years with monetary donations for which many things have been purchased for the Church.The Ukrainian people do not have enough funds to furnish their Church. St Michael's adopted the parish and support it regularly.

CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER WILL BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER,24,25 & 26 AT ST MICHAEL'S CENTER, DELAWARE STREET,JERMYN. THERE WILL BE ETHNIC FOODS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AND "TREASURERS FROM RUSSIA" ITEMS THAT WILL BE AVAILBLE FOR PURCHASING AS WELL. On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the 100th Anniversary of the beginnings of the church was celebrated at St. Michael's Orthodox Church in Jermyn.  His Grace, Bishop Tikhon was the main celebrant along with 18 other members of the clergy.  The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was followed by a Grand Banquet at Heart Lake Lodge.  It was a truly prayerful, inspiring, and wonderful day to mark this special event.

Ariel Kravetsky, Uniondale, was awarded the 2010 Scholarship from the Scholarship Committee. She will attend Penn State Hazleton Campus this Fall. Julianna Soroka observed her 18th Birthday and celebrated it with a parishioners following the Divine Liturgy.

Matushka Petorak and Mary Ann Dubee directed the Annual Yolka Program and Laura Piwarski hosted the cookie exchange.

Thy Nativity, O Christ our God, has shown to the world the Light of Wisdom! For by it those who worshipped the stars were taught by a Star to adore Thee, the Sun of Righteousness, the Orient from on High, O Lord, Glory to Thee!

His Grace, Rt Rev Tikhon came to serve the Divine Liturgy with Archpriest John Kowalczyk and Archpriest Daniel Gyza. They were assisted by Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak and Sub-Deacon Abraham and Reader Vasily Dubee Jr. Vladyka gave a very inspiring homily and visited with parishioners following the Liturgy in the church parlors. He also presented a Diocesan Gramota to Sub-Deacon Vasily Gardecki for his many years as church webmaster and sponosring the website.

Parishionersof St Michael's sponsored Lenten Ethnic Food Sales during Great Lent. The following foods are available: Pierogies, Halushki and Clam chowder. Well over 22,000 pierogies have been sold .The pierogies are always in "GREAT DEMAND" and sell out quickly.

The 3rd Annual Car Show was held in conjunction with our Christmas in September fundraiser. Both Vlad and his dad, Dan Kitchura were the chairen and did an "Outstanding Job" in arranging the car show. Many Years to All Who worked hard in making this Christmas in September a Huge Success!!! Danielle Kleha, a Country and Western vocalist rendered many selections during the car show and enjoyed by all.

The children of a small Day Care Center near Dubrinich,Western Ukraine, will have clothing and shoes thanks to the efforts of Father Gabriel Petorak and our Church School Children. A large selection of childrens shoes and clothing will be shipped to Ukraine and given to the needy children at the Day Care Center. The clothes were  sorted and packed by children and volunteers at our church. A special collection for shipping the boxes was taken on Sunday by the children.

The Second Day of our Annual Fundraiser was enjoyed by all .

The Pre Sanctified Liturgy was served by Father Kowalczyk and Protodeacon Gabriel and presided over by His Grace, Bishop Tikhon. A Lenten Luncheon followed and His Grace gave a talk on the Revitalization Plan for the Diocese.

Pallms and Willow branches were Blessed and Given to those attending the Divine Liturgy on Palm Sunday.

Brianne Kracetsky was presented a check for $500 ,which is awarded each year for high school graduates. St Michael's Scholarship Committee, chaired by Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak made the presentation with Father John. Brianne will attend Marywood University in the Fall. Another graduate, Allison Kraky, was not available and will receive her check in the near future.

Infant Sophia Getzie was Baptised into the Orthodox Church by Father John Kowalczyk. Her sponsors were Vasily Sr and Mayann Dubee . A Brunch for all was served following the Divine Liturgy and was hosted by her parents. Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak and his Matushka Delores and daughter Laura prepared the foods and decorations for the brunch.

His Beautitude, Metropolitan Tikhon was Honored by a Reception given by the Diocese of Eastern Pa at our Church Center. He was welcomed with the traditional Bread and Salt and presented with flowers from each Deanery. Accompanying the Metropoital was His Grace, Mark of Baltimore. More than 75 Priests and Matushi attended. Following a Lenten Meal, a Mitre and Gifts were presented to His Beautitude.

Nearly everyone Communed of the Holy Mysteries and the Liturgy was well attended.

Our Annual Cookie Exchange was held today with Laura Piwowarski as chairman. Participants baked different cookies and exchanged them amongt themselves.

Our Church School, under the direction of Matushka Delores Petorak and Dorothy Allen organized the Yolka . Also a vivist of the American Version of St Nicholas took place and each child was given a little git.

His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek, Locum Tenens, Diocese of Eastern Pa visited our Church and served the Divine Liturgy and offered an Inspiring Homily. A buffet dinner was served afterwards in the Parish Center.

Our Annual Car Show and Christmas in September Weekend was a "Huge Success". The Car Show drew 144 entries this year and Trophies were awarded to the winners. We Wish to Thank Everyone Who Supported Our Fundraiser amd Hope to See You Again in 2014!!!!!!!!!!

There were many vendors available and large variety of articles for sale as well as "Homemade Ethnic and American Foods along with a large selection of baked goods sold.

As pa part of Our 4th Annual Christmas in September Fundraiser, a Classic Car Show will take place on the Sunday,September 29th at St Michael's Center, Delaware Street. Registration will begin at 8:00 Am and Trophies awarded.

A Memorial Service was served today for those members of our Church who served in all Wars. It was sponsored by our St Michael's Vets .

Pentecost was observed with the Divine Liturgy, Kneeling Prayers and Service at our Cemetary.

We were honored to have His Grace,Bishop Mark with us today. His Grace served the Divine Liturgy along with Father John Kowalczyk and Protodeacon Gabe Petorak.

Our Parish President, Joseph Krenitsky, author of the Historical Book Blessed Edgerton,signed and gave a Presentation on the contents of his book. The book contains historical photos and articles about a small community that existed in the Salem Mountains outside of Jermyn.

Today is the Feasts of Feasts. The Bright Resurrection of Our Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ.

Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name Of Our Lord, God is Our Lord and Has Revealed Himself to Us!

Palms and Willow Branches were Blessed and the entire Church received the Holy Mysteries.

Each Year on Lazarus Saturday our Church School Children receive the Holy Mysteries followed by a Lenten Breakfast afterwards.

BISHOP MARK PRESIDED OVER THE PRESANCTIFIED LITURGY AND GAVE A PRESENATION ON THE "50th PSALM' AFTERWARDS. A LENTEN MEAL WAS SERVED TO ALL.

On every Sunday of Orthodoxy, our Church School children process with the Holy Icons.

His Grace, Bishop Mark visited our Church during the Presanctified  Liturgy. Father John introduced His Grace who offered remarks .

Our Church Council Officers were installed by Father John and given the Oath of Office.

A new floor was installed in the kitchen of our Church and was Blessed after Divine Liturgy.

Our February  Breakfast was held with a Valentine's Day motiff.

Our monthly Breakfast was held following Divine Liturgy and was our Guest,His Grace Abuna (Archbishop) Abuna Ewostateos Gebrekristos of Ethiopia. Afterward, His Grace gave exlained the Historical background of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

Water was blessed by Father John following Divine Liturgy and distributed for Blessing of Homes.

Our Annual Theophany Eve Holy Supper was served to 57 guests. The meal consisted of 12 Lenten items and prepared and served by Father Gabe Petorak and his staff.

OUR Church is always decorated for all Feast Days through the efforts of Protodeacon Gabe Petorak and his helpers.This year we have a styrofoam Orthodox Church built by Professor Oleg Beljaeff, whic took him about 38 hours to complete.

The Nativity of Our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ was observed with a Divine Liturgy served by Father John Kowalczyk, Protodeacon Gabe Petorak and Deacon Vasily Dubee.

We celebrated the Nativity of Our Lord  on this Glorious Day wby attending Divine Liturgy which was served by Father John Kowalczyk, Ret Chaplain Father Peter Telencio, Protodeacon Gabriel Petorak along with Subdeacon Vasili Gardecki and Reader Vladimir Kitchura. Many received the Holy Mysteries and the CHoir offered many selection directed by Oleg Belajaeff.

Father John and Matushka Cathy hosted another outstanding Open House for parishioners following the Divine Liturgy.

The Great Blessing of Water took place following Divine Liturgy. His GRace, Bishop Mark and Father John Blessed the Water. Bishop Mark made a surprise visit to our Church today.

Our parishioner, Dave Butler observed his 90th Birthday .

Our Annual Pre Lenten Breakfast fundraiser was held after Divine Liturgy in the Church  Parlor. it is always held on the Sunday prior to Meafare Sunday.

St Mary's Altar Society sponsors this Annual Fundraiser each year on Forgiveness Sunday.

His Grace, Bishop Mark honored us with his presence and presided over the Liturgy. He was welcomed with the Cross by Fathers John and Michael Evans and Protodeacon Gabe Petorak. Following the Liturgy, a Lenten Meal was served after which His Grace offered remarks and his plans for our Diocese.

JULIANNE DUBEE A GRADUATE OF LAKELAND HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVED THE 2014 SCHOLARISHIP FROM OUR CHURCH WHICH IS GIVEN ANNUALLY.

Our monthly breakfast fundraiser was held in the Church basement and was sponsored by St Mary's Altar Society.

OUR ANNUAL SUMMER INDOOR PICNIC WAS HELD IN THE CHURCH BASEMNT FOLLOWING DIVINE LITURGY. IT IS ALWAYS HELD ON THE SUNDAY BEFORE APOSTLES FAST. 

His Grace Bishop Mark was Installed as our Diocesan Hierarch in Philadelphia. A Hierarchal Diviine Liturgy followed by the Rite of Installation at St Stephens Cathedral. His Beatitude Metroplitan Tikhon was the main Celebrant. A Banquet followed the ceremonies.

The Iveron Icon of Hawaii was brought to our Church through the efforts of subdeacon Nectary and Father John. A Moileben Service to the Mother of God was served and Myrhh Streamed from the Icon and each person was annointed with the Myrrh. The Icon was accompanied here by Subdeacon Nectary, who is the keeper of the Icon and travels with Her. Mitred Archpriest John Sorochka and his son Deacon Nathaniel were also present at the Service and assisted Reader Nectary.

Alexis Bertoff was presented a $500 Scholarship from our Parish. She is a 2015 graduate of Lakeland High School . She also won a Presidential Scholarship and will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida in September. May God Grant Her Many Many Blessed Years!
