Concert presented by the Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir

On Sunday, October 19th there will be a late afternoon concert given by the Spirit of Orthodoxy Choir followed by a buffet reception.  This group, directed by Aleksei Shipovalnikov, is in its 11th year of spreading the spirit and messages of Orthodoxy.  The choir consists of singers and choir directors from various Orthodox jurisdictions in the NJ-NY-PA area.

The choir was invited to sing during St. Herman’s Pilgrimage in Alaska in August of 2003.  The choir also sang in NYC at St. Malachy’s Church (the Actors’ Chapel) and at the Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Protection, where concert proceeds benefited IOCC’s Asia Disaster (Tsunami) Response.  On Sept. 11, 2005, the choir presented Orthodox Liturgical “Music of Remembrance and Hope” at Sts Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Jersey City.  This was the closest Orthodox Church to the site of the 2001 WTC tragedy.  This promises to be a spiritually uplifting and musically rewarding evening.  The cost of the concert/reception is $10.00!

More Information >

The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.

Daily Readings >

Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
