Saturday, June 18th, Great Vespers 6:30 p.m. (Eve of the Feast of Pentecost) with blessing of Wheat, Wine and Oil.
Green Sunday, June 19th, Matins 8:00 a.m., Divine Liturgy of Pentecost and kneeling prayers 9:30 a.m.,
1:00 p.m. Parastas at St. Michael’s Cemetery and blessing of graves.
Pentecost Annual Parastas will be held on Sunday, June 19th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Please submit the names of the departed loved ones to be commemorated at the Pentecost Divine Liturgy and at the 1:00 p.m. Parastas. Please use the form in this week’s bulletin.
Father’s Day will be held on Sunday, June 19th: Please submit the names of your Fathers you would want remembered in the Divine Liturgy to Fr. John. St. Mary’s Altar Society will be presenting a Special Father’s Day Gift.
Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry (OCPM) Sunday will be held this morning and a special offering will be held during the second collection. We thank you in advance for the support of this National Pan-Orthodox Organization.
The next Christmas in September Parish Festival Organizational Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 23rd at 6:00 p.m. This will be a working meeting, stuffing envelopes, and a group committee photo will be taken for the newspaper. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend! Our Annual Parish Festival will be held on Friday, September 23rd, Saturday, 24th and Sunday, September 25th will be the Classic Car Show. More information will be forthcoming as it develops.
High School Graduation recognition will be held on Sunday, June 26th. Please let Protodeacon Gabriel know if your son or daughter will be graduating from H.S. and they might be eligible for a St. Michael’s Scholarship, and pictures will be displayed on the Diocesan Web page: doepa.org
Perogie Construction Project will be held on Monday, June 27th and Tuesday, June 28th and again on Monday, July 18th and Tuesday, July 19th. These perogies are being made in preparation for the Christmas in September Festival. Help is greatly needed and appreciated. Please mark these important dates on your calendar of events.
St. Michael’s Cemetery Mapping Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the church basement. Please mark this date on your calendar of events.
Chicken & Rib (Kundlas) BBQ will be held on Saturday, July 2nd from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tickets will go on sale this morning. Please see Mary Mathena. The Spring Raffle will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2016. Please return your tickets in a timely fashion.

The Mission of The Orthodox Church in America, the local autocephalous Orthodox Christian Church, is to be faithful in fulfilling the commandment of Christ to “Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”
St. Michael Orthodox Church is part of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania, which is presided over by The Most Reverend Mark (Maymon), Archbishop of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. Our mission is bringing the joy of Christ's resurrection to those who have never heard the Good News, and to strengthen and encourage the faithful who reside within Jermyn and the local area.
The Holy Scripture is a collection of books written over multiple centuries by those inspired by God to do so. It is the primary witness to the Orthodox Christian faith, within Holy Tradition and often described as its highest point. It was written by the prophets and apostles in human language, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and collected, edited, and canonized by the Church.
Holiness or sainthood is a gift (charisma) given by God to man, through the Holy Spirit. Man's effort to become a participant in the life of divine holiness is indispensable, but sanctification itself is the work of the Holy Trinity, especially through the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ, who was incarnate, suffered crucifixion, and rose from the dead, in order to lead us to the life of holiness, through the communion with the Holy Spirit.
